Guest Blogger: Street Rod 101
Often, in our haste to get things done, we often overlook the simplest things. A good example is the adjustment of the windshield wiper arm. Many windshield wiper arms and blades have been put on street rods or custom hot rods, thinking that they will never be used. That is until your street rod is caught in the rain. Depending upon the manufacturer, some windshield wiper arms are adjustable. If not adjusted correctly, the windshield wiper blade may sweep only the lower 2/3 of the windshield. In this case the driver would only be able to see clearly through a partial area of the windshield. Not knowing that there is an adjustment, one might look for longer blades. However, before buying longer blades, make sure to adjust the windshield wiper arm to make it longer. Refer to the diagram below. In this case, there is a small Allen head set screw on the under side of the windshield wiper arm. When it is loosened, the adjustable wiper arm can be moved outward to lengthen the wiper blade movement. To get the maximum sweep area, the windshield wiper adjustable arm should be moved out as far as possible.
