Product Description: There are many types of brackets for a small block Chevy engine for the air conditioning compressor bracket and for the alternator bracket. On this engine, one key factor when ordering these brackets is the type of water pump being used. It must be determined if the water pump is a short water pump style or a long water pump style. The short water pump, when installed, is closer to the block while the long water pump sits about an inch away from the engine block. The difference will cause the water pump pulley V belts to be in different positions. This causes the brackets to be designed differently for each type of water pump. The bracket shown to the left is for the air conditioning compressor and is designed for the short water pump pulley system.
