Steering (Five Items)
Product Name: Power Steering Assembly
Product Description: This product is called the power rack and pinion steering assembly. It is shown in the photo to the left. It is the aluminum housing in the center, directly below the crankshaft front pulley shown by the arrow. It includes the rack and pinion gears, connections for the steering shaft, power steering fluid connections, tie rods (gold color) and the internal servo piston. The tie rods connect the power steering assembly to the steering arms on each side. As the steering wheel is turned, the hydraulic fluid inside the power steering assembly, causes the rack and pinion to move to the right or left, causing the wheels to turn as necessary.

Product Name: Steering Column
Product Description: This product is called the steering column assembly. It is a General Motors, chrome, 30 inch, tilt, with flasher, blinker, column drop, and electrical hook-up. During installation, it is very important to install the steering column in the correct position. First it must be installed so that there is adqauate support as shown by the column drop (see arrow). Also, the angle of the steering column must be confortable for the driver. In addition, it must be positioned so that it doesn't interfer with the brake pedal or the throttle pedal. Also, make sure it it not too close to the driver's side door. It is recommended that before purchasing, make a model of the steering column with a pipe and piece of wood representing the 14 inch steering wheel. Try different positions, making sure the engine and exhaust manifolds will not interfer with the steering shaft going to the rack and pinion power steering assembly. Once the position is marked, the hole can be made through the fire wall for further installation.

Product Name: Steering Wheel
Product Description: This is a 14 inch, leather wrapped, burgundy steering wheel, with a horn button and a polished aluminum center hub. It fits directly on the splined steering shaft inside of the steering column. A nice feature of this steering wheel is the ability to change the steering wheel position without relocating it on the center hub of the steering wheel. Notice the nine screws holding the steering wheel to the center hub. (See arrow) In most steering wheels, the hub must be positioned correctly to allow the blinkers to go off after making a turn. Once the center hub is correctly positioned, the nine screws can be removed and the steering wheel repositioned correctly.

Product Name: Steering Shaft and U-joints
Product Description: This product includes two universal joints, two splined steering shafts, and a center support bearing. The support bearing is located to the left of the bottom universal joint shown by the arrow. The universal joints allow the shaft to work arround the exhaust headers. During installation, be careful not to have too much of an angle, or the steering wheel will have a binding feeling. Also, be careful to keep the parts away from the heat of the exhaust pipes. The heat from the exhaust could dry out the lubrication of the support bearing and universal joints. The far left end (not shown in the photo) is splined directly into the rack and pinion power steering assembly.

Product Name: Power Steering Pump
Product Description: This is a chrome Saginaw, power steering pump with dipstick included. On small block Chevy 350 engines, the pump is located on the bottom, driver's side, front of the engine. See arrow. It is driven by a V-belt, directly off the crankshaft pully. The power steering pump bracket allows adjustment of the power steering pump belt. The dipstick is located directly on top of the power steering pump. Depending upon the application, it may be necessary to change the power steering pump pressure. To do this, the pressure valve inside the pump has a series of shims to change the pressure. It is recommended to contact Technical Support personnel from the pump manufacturer to get the right pressure for the power steering assembly being used.
